Thanksgiving Camping

There is nothing like camping in the fall! You really appreciate the fire when it is cold outside. We camped this year for Thanksgiving at Table Rock State Park. We set up on Wednesday and came home on Sunday. We had family come on Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. Russ fried a turkey and my sister, Michelle, and I provided the sides. Other than it being on the cold side, we all had a great day. My parents and Aunt and Uncle came up on Friday. Then Saturday, we hiked to the top of Table Rock with our friends, the McGovern's, who were also camping. The boys spent all day every day playing in the woods sliding down a big hill or playing soccer in a grassy field. I would say it was a successful and fun holiday weekend! Adventure is out there!

Charleston, South Carolina

The boys had a soccer tournament on James Island this weekend. On Friday we went to the Yorktown. We also went on the submarine and into the Vietnam war camp. The Vietnam camp was very eye opening. The boys enjoyed it the most. We saw Dolphins swimming around the ship. Then it was all about soccer. They played four games between them on Saturday. Both of their teams made it to the finals. Heavy rain moved in Sunday so they played their championship games in the rain Sunday morning. We all got drenched but the boys said they enjoyed playing in the rain. Unfortunately, both teams lost. But at least they got second place medals! Now we are driving home in the rain. I would say we had a great weekend! Adventure is out there:)

Fall 2014

Well it seams that two months have gone by since I last posted. I thought I would write down a few things that we have been doing. So let's see, there is soccer, always soccer. My parents moved to our area a few months ago and we have enjoyed showing them some of our favorite spots. We have taken them to Chatooga Bell, Chau Ram, and Octoberfest. We also try to go on a hike or at least in nature once a week in the fall. It is by far the best time of year for hiking. The boys and I went to the Reedy River while waiting between soccer games. Russ, myself and the boys took a great ride into NC so we could check out a campground. We found a beautiful small waterfall beside a gravel road. We went to Chimney Rock. We have hiked to Oconee Station Falls and Riley Moore Falls. We have spent time with friends and have even gotten around to some math, reading, and bible study. We also celebrated Michelle's, Brandon's, and my birthdays. And let's not forget Halloween! Russ and I even got away for one night in Asheville. That was a real treat! For the most part, the weather has been perfect. Some cold days but overall I cannot complain. The leaves have been especially beautiful, especially in the mountains. I would say this has been a pretty great fall!

Blink! And Summer is Gone

I am totally not ready for summer to be over. I had plans to do fun things this summer that we never got around to. But all was not lost. We did fun stuff. We spent time with friends. We went camping once. We celebrated Isaac and Cade's birthdays. We saw the fireworks on Fourth of July. And we spent a week at the beach soaking up the sun. We went to the river and a waterfall. We swam in our pool and the boys played soccer. We had a successful garden that kept us busy. We enjoyed the long days, warm evenings, the flowers, birds, and butterflies. I started an essential oil business even though I wasn't planning to. It just happened and I am glad that it did. I am really enjoying using and selling the oils. I also make products such as homemade bug spray and facial oil. If only summer could last like 6 months out of the year and winter 0 months, life would be great! Adventure is out there!
