Archeological Dig!

Saturday Russ, myself, Isaac, and Cade went to Pumpkintown to a farm where they are doing an archeological dig. They have found the place of an old indian village and are excavating all kinds of interesting things. Lots of pottery pieces, lots of spear points, and chunky rocks which are smooth, chunky, round disc looking rocks that they used to play a game. The most interesting thing we experienced was listening to this 70 year old man named Jack that had lots of knowledge about how the indians lived, worked, and played. He was showing us how they used river reeds with spear heads tyed to the ends to throw a very long distance using a rod to kill animals far away. He also demonstrated using a blow dart, which he was very accurate. Finally, he started a fire using only the materials the indians would have had access to during that time period. It all was very interesting.

On the way home we ate lunch at Aunt Sue's on hwy 11. It is a rustic sandwich and ice cream shop surrounded by lots of small shops. We of course ended up in the toy store and the boys picked out slide whistles and cheap wooden air planes that you put together yourself. We came home and I had an experiment about flying using those types of airplanes so we worked on that. The boys thorougly enjoyed their planes until Isaac's met an untimily death by a ceiling fan.

Remember, Adventure is out there!
